Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev participated in the European Political Community (EPC) summit held in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, on October 2. This event coincided with the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Gabala on October 9, and the participation of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
The editorial office reports that, according to information released by The Diplomatic Insight, this diplomatic activity demonstrates Azerbaijan's growing role in maintaining stability and peace in the international arena. In an era of increasing wars and political conflicts globally, Baku distinguishes itself with a humanitarian and multi-vector diplomatic approach.
One of Azerbaijan's main diplomatic achievements in recent years is the peace agreement reached with Armenia. In negotiations mediated by US President Donald Trump, President Ilham Aliyev demonstrated a principled stance to conclude the historic Karabakh conflict and achieve a mutually beneficial peace agreement. This initiative has the potential to transform the South Caucasus region into a future hub for global trade and cooperation.
The European Union (EU) also highly appreciates Azerbaijan's humanitarian policy. Following the Russia-Ukraine war, Baku has become an important partner for Europe's energy security. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared at the EPC summit in Copenhagen that Azerbaijan is “Europe's golden reserve.” Within the framework of the summit, President Ilham Aliyev discussed issues of regional peace, energy security, and humanitarian cooperation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Azerbaijan also plays an active role in the CIS and OTS platforms. Heads of state participating in the OTS summit in Gabala welcomed the peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan, reaffirming their commitment to the vision of a “Turkic world in peace, security, and prosperity.” This diplomatic activity demonstrates that Azerbaijan is a pioneer of a new era of peace, based on mutual respect and principles of international law, rather than the dictates of hegemonic powers.
