Singapore's Ambassador to the UN, Kevin Cheok, stated at a high-level conference in New York on July 29 that Singapore is ready in principle to recognize the State of Palestine. According to him, such a step should contribute to peace in the region and a two-state solution.

The editorial office reports that Cheok added that Singapore is also considering sending a medical brigade to the region to help treat patients from Gaza. In the long term, Singapore is ready to support the reconstruction of Gaza once a permanent ceasefire is achieved.

A Singaporean official stated: “Singapore has long supported a two-state solution based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the right of Palestinians to have their own homeland. We believe this is the only path to a long-term, just, and lasting peace.”

Cheok added that Singapore also supports Egypt's proposed Gaza Reconstruction Plan and its vision for the region's rebuilding. The document includes AI-generated maps and visualizations for residential areas, parks, and public centers.

The three-day UN conference on the implementation of a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine was co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia and concluded on July 30. Representatives from approximately 125 countries worked on the final declaration.
