Russian President Vladimir Putin received the new Syrian President Ahmed Shara yesterday at the Kremlin. During the meeting, the parties extensively discussed the current state of Russia-Syria relations and future cooperation prospects.
The editorial reports that Vladimir Putin stated in his address that the Russian construction sector is ready to participate in Syria's reconstruction. He noted that significant work has been done to restore relations between the two countries since Ahmed Shara's visit to Moscow in October last year, and this process is being continued consistently.
The Russian President emphasized that there have never been "dark pages" in the relations between Russia and Syria since Damascus's recognition of independence during World War II. According to him, there are beneficial measures planned for joint implementation in the fields of industry, sports, and medicine. Vladimir Putin also declared his support for Ahmed Shara's efforts to restore Syria's territorial integrity.
Syrian President Ahmed Shara, in his address, stated that the Russian Federation plays an important role in stabilizing the situation in Syria and the Middle East in general. He noted that there are numerous topics that can be discussed and developed between Damascus and Moscow.
Ahmed Shara concluded by thanking the Russian President for his efforts in stabilizing the situation in the Arab Republic and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries will deepen further in the future.
