Russia proposed joint exercises in the Caspian Sea

Russia has proposed holding joint exercises in the Caspian Sea in 2026.

It is reported that this was announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Aleksandr Moiseyev during negotiations between the naval commanders of the Caspian littoral states – Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, and Kazakhstan – in Saint Petersburg.

"The Russian side proposed to the meeting participants to hold a multilateral naval exercise in 2026, aimed at developing issues of ensuring the security of navigation and objects of maritime economic activity for the Naval Forces of the Caspian littoral states. Within the framework of this exercise, the development of interaction during search and rescue operations in the Caspian Sea aquatory is also planned," the report states.
