UFC fighter Rose Namajunas is preparing to face Natalia Silva in her upcoming fight. This encounter could be a new phase in Namajunas' career, as she is making fundamental changes to refine her fighting style and gain an advantage over her opponent. This fight is of great significance for both fighters and is eagerly awaited by fans.
Redaksiya reports that Namajunas (14-7 MMA, 12-6 UFC), a former two-time strawweight champion, will face rising flyweight star Silva (19-5-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) at UFC 324 on January 24th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will be broadcast on the Paramount+ platform. Namajunas' striking earned her two UFC strawweight championships: a technical knockout victory over Joanna Jędrzejczyk in 2017 and a head-kick knockout win against Zhang Weili in 2021. Facing Silva, who holds a purple belt in Taekwondo, Namajunas is returning to her own fighting roots. She has enlisted the help of an Olympic bronze medalist in Taekwondo.
Namajunas stated on her YouTube channel, "We have three weeks left in our training camp and I'm really excited. We have a girl coming in named Kristina Tichout. She's a bronze medalist in Taekwondo, an Olympian in Taekwondo, and I'm really excited because I'm fighting Natalia Silva, she has a Taekwondo base and she adapts it really well for MMA. But even I, that's my base too. I just don't utilize it as much as she does. I rely a lot on my boxing, but I want to get back to my roots. So, we're just bringing her in to help with that, to help with my kicking game, with things like reaction and timing. I'm not planning on her mimicking Natalya in any way, but I'm a true martial artist. I feel like everything helps and if you have the right mindset for it, everything can be applied. I'm really excited about that." Namajunas is considered a significant underdog in her matchup against the undefeated Brazilian fighter Silva. Silva boasts a 13-fight winning streak.
