Poland plans to start producing "Barracuda 500" cruise missiles. For now, information is available only about the fact that production will be established in Poland, but further details have not been disclosed. Analysts recalled that cruise missiles of the "Barracuda" family are available in three variants: "Barracuda-100", "Barracuda-250", and "Barracuda-500". However, all of them are intended for mass production and launch. As the publication clarified, Poland has currently announced plans to produce only the most powerful version, the "Barracuda-500".
According to the information, currently, the production of these missiles is only for Poland's own needs. Even the possibility of their supply to Ukraine is not being considered. However, analysts call this option entirely realistic. The authors added that the US Air Force also wants to acquire more than 3,000 "Barracuda-500" missiles. According to the military portal "Defence Express", the production of "Barracuda-500" missiles in Poland and their supply to the Polish army will significantly strengthen the country and theoretically enable Poles to strike the capital of the Russian Federation. The authors noted the simplicity of assembling these missiles: fewer than 10 tools are required to assemble a "Barracuda-500". This minimizes the number of unique tools required and allows for faster establishment of new production lines.
Analysts also noted the recent development of a new launch technology – via a solid-fuel rocket booster from a ground container. "However, in this case, there is a possibility that the range will decrease to 600-700 km," analysts noted. "The presence of 'Barracuda-500' missiles in the arsenal of the Polish army will theoretically allow them to strike Moscow, which is located approximately 900 km from the state border," analysts wrote. "Therefore, looking at the perspective, it is entirely possible that the production of 'Barracuda-500' could also be established in Ukraine in the near future," the authors speculated.
