As a result of measures taken by customs authorities during 2025, 97 cases related to the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors were detected. In total, 1 ton 824 kg 453 grams of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors were removed from illegal circulation in connection with these cases.
Of the detected narcotics, 1 ton 274 kg 889 grams were marijuana, 451 kg 012 grams were heroin, 86 kg 522 grams were hashish, 10 kg 867 grams were methamphetamine, 584 grams were methadone, 211 grams were opium, 154 grams were cocaine, and other substances.
It should be noted that 97.1% of the narcotics seized from illegal circulation were intended for export to European black markets through transit across the territory of Azerbaijan.
Over the past year, appropriate measures have been taken against 95 individuals suspected of illegal drug trafficking, and 5 criminal groups involved in the illegal circulation of narcotics have been exposed.
At the same time, approximately 6 tons 715 kilograms of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, seized from illegal circulation in various years and subject to court orders for destruction, were destroyed by burning in connection with 105 criminal cases.
