OpenAI, a leading company in the field of artificial intelligence, is reportedly planning to significantly increase its workforce. According to information, the company aims to expand its workforce from the current 4,500 to 8,000 by 2026. One of the main reasons for this expansion is the contract signed with the US Department of Defense and other important partnerships, which creates a need for more specialists and engineers.
Redaksiya reports that OpenAI also intends to rapidly expand its staff for the development of proprietary artificial intelligence chips and its first end-user-oriented hardware product, expected to be introduced in 2027. The company has also been strengthening its workforce with a number of significant acquisitions recently. One of the steps taken in this direction is the signing of an agreement to acquire Astral, the company behind popular open-source Python programming tools such as uv, Ruff, and ty.
Prior to this, it was reported that OpenAI had acquired Promptfoo. The announcement stated that "We are integrating Promptfoo into our structure. The technologies developed by Promptfoo will strengthen our agent safety testing and evaluation capabilities within the OpenAI Frontier framework. Promptfoo will remain open-source under its existing license, and service and support will continue to be provided to existing customers." This information has also been confirmed by Ian Webster and Michael D’Angelo.
