US-based OpenAI, operating in the field of artificial intelligence, could reach a valuation of $500 billion with the completion of a new share sale.

According to editorial reports, citing Bloomberg agency, this valuation could elevate the company to the status of the world's most valuable private technology company. Currently, this position is held by Elon Musk's SpaceX, valued at $400 billion.

The new agreement will enable the direct sale of shares by OpenAI's current or former employees.

What is the reason for the interest?

Last month, OpenAI attracted $8.3 billion and increased its valuation to $300 billion as a result of a $40 billion investment round led by SoftBank. Bloomberg reports that at the time, investor demand exceeded the offer by 5 times.

It is noted that investor interest in the new share sale is also very high. If the agreement goes through, OpenAI will become the most valuable private technology company, surpassing SpaceX.

GPT-5 and open-weight models are on the way

OpenAI currently maintains its market leadership with over $12 billion in annual subscription revenue. The company launched its "open-weight" models this week. Concurrently, the introduction of the GPT-5 model is expected by the end of this month.

Competition in the field of artificial intelligence is also increasing. Anthropic, one of OpenAI's main competitors, is expected to generate $4 billion in revenue this year.

Political support is also behind it

US President Donald Trump has introduced a bill called “Big Beautiful Bill” that promotes investments in artificial intelligence. This initiative aims to increase investor interest through tax incentives and is believed to have influenced OpenAI's decision-making.

OpenAI and one of its main investors, Thrive Capital, have declined to comment officially on the matter.

However, if the process is successfully completed, OpenAI will gain the status of a leader not only in the artificial intelligence sector but also in the entire private technology market.
