Israel's Mossad intelligence service hacked into Tehran's video surveillance camera network, enabling them to monitor Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for many years.
The editorial reports that the publication “Financial Times” released information about this.
It is reported that thanks to the footage obtained from the cameras, Mossad gained detailed information about the bodyguards' addresses, work schedules, and whom they protected. One of the cameras allowed agents to track where the bodyguards parked their personal vehicles when arriving at Khamenei's residence.
“We knew Tehran as well as we knew Jerusalem. If you know a place as well as the street you grew up on, you notice even the slightest thing that is out of place,” an Israeli intelligence official told the publication.
In addition, it is reported that the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) also obtained extremely important intelligence information from internal sources.
This source, along with Israel's artificial intelligence tools analyzing a large volume of information about Iran's leadership, allowed them to track Khamenei up to the meeting where he was targeted. Mossad officials reportedly planned the attack for months and struck immediately after obtaining information confirming the Supreme Leader's location.
