On January 16, National Hero of Azerbaijan Shahin Taghiyev was buried at the Military Memorial Cemetery.
First, a farewell ceremony was held for the National Hero of Azerbaijan. Representatives of the state and public attended the ceremony.
Then, Shahin Taghiyev's body was laid to rest amidst the sounds of the State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a volley of gunfire.
Prayers were recited for the soul of the National Hero of Azerbaijan, and fresh flowers were laid on his grave, along with a wreath.
It is worth recalling that Shahin Talib oglu Taghiyev, originally from Shusha, was born on February 3, 1949, in Tartar city. He graduated from the Energetics Technical School in 1969 and was assigned to the Udmurt region of Russia. Shahin Taghiyev, who worked in the energy and trade sectors in Russia and Azerbaijan from a young age, joined the National Liberation Movement in 1988. The hero, who voluntarily joined the Karabakh war in 1991, led battles as a company commander with the rank of lieutenant. In 1992, he was appointed commander of the "Gurtulush" battalion, formed on the basis of that company, and demonstrated exceptional bravery in breaking through the enemy front in the Aghdara direction, as well as in battles fought in the directions of Tartar, Seyzulan, Yarimca, and Levonarx. He passed away on December 29 in Malmö, Sweden, after a long illness.
The body of Shahin Taghiyev was brought to the Motherland on the night of January 15 with the support and organization of the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Diaspora Affairs.
