Against the backdrop of rising tensions between Cambodia and Thailand, it has been announced that the two countries will begin high-level peace talks in the coming days.

The editorial office reports that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio provided this information. According to him, the talks will take place in Malaysia, and the main topic will be ensuring a ceasefire.

Rubio stated that representatives of the US State Department are already located in Malaysia and are mediating the peaceful conduct of the talks.

It is noted that both Marco Rubio and US President Donald Trump remain in active contact with the leaders of Cambodia and Thailand and are closely monitoring the situation in the region.

It should be recalled that President Trump had previously demanded an immediate ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. In response, the acting Prime Minister of Thailand stated that Thai military personnel would continue to carry out their duties until the safety of citizens is ensured. He also noted that Thailand does not want intervention from third countries but thanked Trump for his attention.
