Istanbul accounts for a quarter of Turkey's consumption

New statistical data on consumption expenditures in Turkey has been released. This data reflects the economic situation and consumption trends in various regions of the country. Redaksiya reports that the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has published data on household consumption expenditures for 2024. According to the released data, approximately one-quarter, or 24.9 percent, of Turkey's total consumption occurred in Istanbul. This indicates Istanbul's significant role in the country's economy and consumer market.

Ankara ranked second with 8.3 percent. İzmir took the third spot with 6.4 percent. The region encompassing Kocaeli, Sakarya, Düzce, Bolu, and Yalova accounted for a 5.9 percent share. It is noteworthy that this region also holds a significant share in consumption expenditures. These statistics help understand how economic activity and consumption behaviors vary across different regions of Turkey.
