A statement from the Syrian presidential administration indicates that head of state Ahmed Shara has held phone calls with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, the President of Turkey, and the Emir of Qatar regarding the events in the south. It was stated that Israel's overt interventions in Syria's internal affairs further deepen the chaos in the country and complicate the regional situation.
The US State Department, however, has declared that the primary responsibility for peace, integration, and a prosperous future in Syria must be borne by the Damascus leadership.
