Reports indicate casualties during the mass protests that have been ongoing in Iran since the end of December. Local and international media are evaluating these actions as the most widespread wave of protests in recent years.

The editorial office reports, citing Reuters, that at least sixteen people have lost their lives during the protests. The demonstrations encompass various cities across the country, and tensions continue amid intervention by security forces.

According to information, the main reasons for the protests are high inflation and the sharp devaluation of the national currency. The significant decrease in the value of the Iranian rial against the US dollar has increased public discontent. Initially, shopkeepers began protesting, and later students also joined the actions.

Although government representatives have stated that dialogue is being held with the protesters, detailed information about the content of these negotiations has not been provided. According to claims by "The Times" newspaper, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has prepared an evacuation plan from Tehran in case the situation gets out of control and may leave the capital.

In addition, US President Donald Trump has stated that if the Iranian authorities use lethal force against the protesters, the US will respond very harshly. According to him, Washington is closely monitoring the events, and possible steps are on the agenda.
