Nuclear discussions between Iran and the United States have resumed amid rising regional tensions. These talks aim to resolve long-standing disputes between the two countries and are crucial for ensuring peace and security in the region.

Redaksiya reports that the main topics of discussion have been uranium enrichment and the transfer of highly enriched uranium from Iran. Iran wants sanctions lifted in exchange for limiting its nuclear program in a way that prevents the production of an atomic bomb. The US, on the other hand, demands that Iran completely halt its uranium enrichment activities and transfer highly enriched uranium out of the country.

The Iranian delegation was represented by Foreign Minister Abbas Erakchi, and the US delegation by President Donald Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. Witkoff was accompanied by Trump's son-in-law and advisor Jared Kushner, and the Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Brad Cooper. From the Iranian side, Erakchi was joined by Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Hamid Kanbari, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi.

Nuclear talks between Iran and the US have resumed after a 12-day war. The diplomatic process, which was interrupted by attacks on Iran by Israel and the US in June 2025, has been revived through the efforts of regional countries, primarily Turkey. An Iranian state television correspondent reported that the meetings have concluded "for now" and that the delegations of the two countries are expected to return to their respective countries.

The US administration also wants to bring Iran's missile program and its support for armed groups in the region to the negotiating table. Iran, however, states that it will not discuss issues outside of its nuclear program. According to Iranian state television, the US-Iran meetings, which began around 11:00 AM in Muscat, the capital of Oman, have concluded, and the Iranian negotiating team has returned home. Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamed al-Busaidi mediated the exchange of messages between Erakchi and Witkoff. The parties have not yet made any statements regarding the outcome of the meetings.
