President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Steven Doughty, Minister of State for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, on August 25.
Steven Doughty conveyed his congratulations to the head of state on the historic results achieved in Washington regarding the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the advancement of the peace agenda, stating his country's readiness to support this process. The guest also touched upon the importance of the results achieved in Washington concerning regional transport links.

The head of state expressed his gratitude for the congratulations. President Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan will continue its efforts to advance the peace agenda and the normalization process with Armenia.
The head of state recalled the visit of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Keir Starmer, to Azerbaijan during COP29 and his meeting with him.
During the conversation, views were exchanged on the prospects for developing relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain, and satisfaction was expressed with the current state of political relations. It was noted that there are broad prospects for cooperation in economic, trade, information and communication technologies, education, and other fields. Touching upon energy relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain, the fruitful cooperation between our country and bp, which has lasted for over 30 years, was noted, and it was emphasized that this is successfully implemented in both traditional and renewable energy sectors. Hope was expressed that mutually beneficial cooperation with bp will continue for decades to come.
Finally, the guest presented a commemorative gift to the head of state.
