Huawei's HarmonyOS operating system has reached a significant milestone in its development. The company reports that the total number of installed copies of HarmonyOS 5 and HarmonyOS 6 exceeds 27 million. This indicator is called the 'lifeline' at Huawei – the minimum required scale to maintain developer interest and ensure the stable growth of the ecosystem. The system was launched six years ago, following sanctions that restricted access to Google services.

The editorial reports that currently, over 10 million developers have registered on the platform, with approximately 100,000 new devices activated daily. Users perform about 88 million application downloads and updates daily. The HarmonyOS 6 version was launched in China in October 2025 and is equipped with new features such as fast file sharing.

According to Counterpoint Research, HarmonyOS's share in the Chinese smartphone market in the second quarter of 2025 was 17%, maintaining a slight lead over iOS for six consecutive quarters. The operating system's growing popularity coincides with Huawei's recovery in the smartphone segment: thanks to the success of the Mate 80 series, the company has regained its leading position in sales by the end of the year. The release of new device series with proprietary software confirms the brand's desire to create a fully independent technological environment.
