Changes have been made to several functional activity sections of Azerbaijan's 2026 budget package.
“Report” informs that Nəsir Sadıqov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts, stated this at a joint meeting of the Youth and Sports, Public Associations and Religious Organizations, and Culture committees.
According to him, many issues noted in the previous recommendations of the Chamber of Accounts regarding the improvement of public finance management, ensuring compliance with international practice, and proper accounting of state budget revenues and expenditures have been fully or partially taken into account in the budget package:
“In addition, amendments were made to the budget package as a result of discussions held with relevant state bodies during the preparation of the opinion. These changes covered the functional classification of social protection and social security, culture, art, information, physical education, youth policy, and other areas of activity.”
N. Sadıqov added that the information presented regarding the 2026 state budget draft ensured the requirements of the “Law on the Budget System” concerning the unity and independence of the budget system, and the draft was prepared by applying a unified budget classification:
“The draft law “On the State Budget for 2026” was generally prepared in accordance with the requirements set forth by the “Law on the Budget System”.”
