Traffic will be restricted on the streets covered by the Baku City Circuit (BCC) starting from September 15.
The operational company has released information regarding this.
It was stated that for the purpose of carrying out logistical operations related to the “Formula-1 Qatar Airways” Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which will be held on September 19-21, the section of Pushkin Street from its intersection with Uzeyir Hajibeyov Street and Neftchilar Avenue will be restricted for traffic starting from 01:00 AM on September 12. The restriction will continue until the end of the event.
According to the Traffic Management Plan, the streets through which the Baku City Circuit passes and the areas covered by the track will be closed to traffic from 01:00 AM on September 15 until 08:00 AM on September 23. Entry and exit in the restricted zones will only be possible with a “Residential Access Permit”.
It was noted that, based on the experience of the last two years, some main roads will also be opened for public use during the race period this year for the convenience of city residents and drivers.
Thus, on September 15-16-17, the following entry-exit sections of the race track will be free for traffic without stopping or parking from 07:00 AM to 09:00 AM in the morning, and from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM in the evening.
On September 18, these roads will be open from 07:00 AM to 09:00 AM in the morning, and from 08:00 PM to 10:00 PM in the evening.
Entry points:
- From Salyan Highway towards Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft Circle;
- From M. Lermontov Street towards 50th Anniversary of UN Street and Istiglaliyyat Street;
- From S. Vurgun Street towards U. Hajibeyli Street and Bulbul Avenue;
- From Bulbul Avenue towards Khagani Street and Neftchilar Avenue;
- From the intersection of Nizami and Pushkin Streets towards Khagani Street.
Exit points:
- From Neftchilar Avenue towards Baku Sea Port and “Crescent Mall”;
- From Istiglaliyyat Street towards Azerbaijan Avenue;
- From Neftchilar Avenue towards Azneft Circle and “Deniz Mall”.
“The mentioned roads will only be used as transit corridors. Also, with the exception of emergencies, parking of vehicles and passenger boarding and alighting are prohibited when transit corridors are open. Furthermore, the movement of heavy-tonnage trucks and public transport is excluded on these roads,” the statement said.
