Confession: Donors Influence Politicians with Donations

Speeches at an event by the Israel-America Council (IAC) have sparked serious discussions about the influence of major donors on political processes. While Mirriam Adelson and Haim Saban admitted to providing financial support to politicians in front of thousands of attendees, they avoided answering some questions.

Haim Saban stated that "those who give more have more, and those who give less have less opportunity to speak," calling it "simple math." He emphasized that it is natural for individuals who support a politician to have greater opportunities to convey their positions to that political figure and try to persuade them. Mirriam Adelson, in response to one of the questions, preferred to evade the topic, saying, "Can you allow me not to answer? ... There are many things I don't want to talk about."

Political observers state that these confessions raise new questions about the influence of financial support on US politics and bring to the forefront the issue of what opportunities various parties may have in this process.
