President Ilham Aliyev once again declared the return of our compatriots from Western Azerbaijan as a priority at the meeting organized for the 80th anniversary of ANAS. He stated that the return of Azerbaijanis to present-day Armenia should not frighten the Armenian people and state. This is a purely humanitarian issue, and Armenia should not politicize it.
In any case, no power can divert Azerbaijan from this strategic goal. The head of state always states that our goals are strategic, tactical, and long-term. Steps towards ensuring the rights of our compatriots who have been repeatedly subjected to deportation must not cease. Despite Armenia's radical stance on this issue, all principles of the Return Concept are brought to the agenda on relevant platforms and should continue to be so. The injustice committed against Western Azerbaijanis, and the consequences of this injustice, can in no way be accepted.
In this process, responsibility also falls on scientists. As President Ilham Aliyev stated, we must research and promote our history. Azerbaijani citizens, Azerbaijani youth must know our rich history. Our advantage is also that despite living in a large geography, we have never adopted a separatist position. That is, the Azerbaijani people have been a stabilizing factor in all geographies where they have lived, never drawing dividing lines. The number of resources reflecting these realities, as well as facts regarding the falsification of national toponyms in Western Azerbaijan, must increase. This is important for promoting the truths of Western Azerbaijan.
Although the Azerbaijani President's remarks regarding Lake Goycha caused serious concern in Armenia, they do not change the existing reality. In fact, what worries Armenia is the abundance of accurate sources we refer to.
The Azerbaijani President once again stated that public organizations, as well as our scientists, must continue to create new scientific works.
Here, our intellectuals must show special activity. I believe that the activity of young people in this process is also important. Our highly intellectual youth must direct their knowledge and skills towards defending national interests. Regardless of which country they live in, they must act in the interests of statehood. Unfortunately, some anti-national elements are used as pawns against our own country for material gain. The lack of national zeal in them is simply regrettable. All segments of society must be mobilized to eliminate such elements. Nothing can be superior to Azerbaijan and our national interests. Every Azerbaijani must feel this responsibility.
