Erdoğan and Trump Hold Phone Call: Syria Topic Draws Special Attention

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump. During the talks, bilateral relations between Turkey and the U.S., the latest situation in Syria, the activities of the Gaza Peace Council, defense industry cooperation, trade relations, as well as regional and global issues were discussed.

The editorial reports that President Erdoğan stated Turkey will continue to take steps to strengthen cooperation with the U.S. and emphasized that the development of relations in all areas serves the mutual interests of both countries.

The issue of Syria was also a special focus during the phone call. President Erdoğan noted that Turkey attaches great importance to the full implementation of the ceasefire and integration agreement in neighboring Syria, and pointed out that Ankara is closely monitoring this process in coordination with the U.S. and Syrian entities.

Touching upon issues related to Gaza, the Turkish President expressed hope that the Gaza Peace Council will be beneficial. He stressed that ending the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and restoring the area will pave the way for lasting peace in the region.
