A meeting was held between Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and Aysel Yaqubova, Executive Director of the Economic Cooperation Organization's (ECO) Clean Energy Center (CECECO).
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the Clean Energy Center's activities as a regional cooperation platform, planned projects, and the implementation of joint initiatives. Issues arising from the “Host Country Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Economic Cooperation Organization's Clean Energy Center,” as well as the institution's financing, and partnership opportunities with international organizations, energy companies, and financial institutions were discussed. The Center's plans to form a centralized collection of existing national legislation, regulatory legal acts, and policy frameworks in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency for ECO member states were brought to attention. It was noted that such initiatives would be beneficial for investors, financial institutions, and other interested parties. It was also stated that the Clean Energy Center plans to support the increase of knowledge and skills, and exchange of experience in the relevant field in the countries it covers, and to expand its participation in regional and international forums.
During the conversation, the Ministry of Energy expressed its support for the Center's activities, and joint events with the State Agency on Renewable Energy Sources were recommended.
It should be noted that the Center, in addition to being a specialized institution of ECO, has been operating as part of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centers (GN-SEC) of the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) since September 2025.
