Reclamation work has commenced at the processing complex located near Chovdar village in Dashkasan district, carried out by AzerGold CJSC in accordance with local and international legislation, environmental protection, and sustainable development principles.
At the Chovdar Integrated Regional Processing Area (CHIRPA), a 15-hectare section of the currently unusable waste rock dump, which covers a total of 88 hectares, has already seen the restoration of a fertile soil layer and the implementation of slope stabilization works. In the next phase, as part of biological reclamation measures, 300 kilograms of alfalfa seeds were sown in the area. The work carried out serves to improve soil structure and gradually restore the ecosystem.
Within the framework of the subsequent stages of the reclamation project plan, it is envisioned that restoration work will continue on soils whose fertility characteristics have changed as a result of production in other areas of the mine. In this context, reclamation measures are an integral part of mining companies' environmental responsibility and are carried out in accordance with legislation and international standards.
It should be noted that AzerGold CJSC is the first mining company in the country to carry out reclamation work. The company has conducted reclamation work at the "Aghyokhush-1" gold mine, whose operation has been completed.
