Google has added a series of new AI-powered features to the Chrome browser. These innovations, based on the Gemini family of models, aim to transform the browser into an active digital assistant, expanding automation, multitasking, and creative editing capabilities.
The editorial team reports that one of the main innovations is an agent-based AI function called Auto Browse. This tool has the ability to automatically search and research on the internet to perform multi-step tasks. For example, processes such as researching travel options or renewing licenses can be executed through this function. Auto Browse is currently available for testing in the US for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
As part of the innovations, a permanent sidebar has been created in Chrome. Through this sidebar, users can summarize articles, compare products across different tabs, or draft emails without leaving the page. The sidebar enhances multitasking in the browser, making the user experience more efficient.
Additionally, with the tool called Nano Banana, it will be possible to create, edit, or change the style of images within the browser. This function, which works with natural language commands, eliminates the need to upload or download files for simple creative edits. The sidebar also supports integration with Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, and Maps applications, enabling tasks such as creating an automatic calendar event by extracting flight information from an email.
