The coincidence of Ramadan and Novruz holidays this year has created a special liveliness in the markets. Residents preparing their holiday tables are already heading to markets and fairs to buy various food products.
Meat products in the markets are mainly brought from the regions. The price of lamb brought from the regions of Barda, Agjabadi, and Beylagan is offered at around 24 manats per kilogram, and beef at around 21 manats per kilogram.
Village chicken and other poultry products are also brought to the markets from various regions and offered to buyers. The prices range from 8-10 manats.
There is also an abundance of dried fruits and nuts on the stalls. Among the products used for pilaf, plums are sold for approximately 6 manats, raisins for 7–10 manats, and dried apricots starting from 8 manats. The prices of other nuts vary depending on the type: shelled walnuts are 11 manats per kilogram, hazelnut kernels are 22 manats, almonds are 7 manats, jujubes are 5 manats, oleaster is 7 manats, and chestnuts are approximately 12 manats.
The price of rice, one of the main ingredients for pilaf on the Novruz table, ranges from 3–4 manats. Both seasonal and off-season products are available for sale at fruit and vegetable stalls.
Overall, according to calculations, holiday shopping for a family of 3–4 people costs an average of 200-250 manats. The amount may vary depending on the variety and quantity of products chosen. (baku.ws)
