Has France's Ambassador to Azerbaijan been recalled?

Reports have circulated that France's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Anne Boillon, has been recalled for consultations.

According to claims by the “Azərbaycan” newspaper, France is taking “measures” concerning the ambassador at a time when a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia is considered realistic.

The French Embassy in Azerbaijan has reacted to this news. It stated that the information is not true: “Our Embassy is aware of the article published today in the daily “Azərbaycan” newspaper, which states that our Ambassador Anne Boillon (Ann Buayon) has been recalled for consultations by the President of the Republic. Our Ambassador is on leave in France and will resume her duties after returning to Baku on August 24. The Azerbaijani authorities have been informed about her return date and her absence from the country. The end of her current mission is in line with the ordinary rotation schedule of French diplomatic personnel and is not related to political motives, as claimed by the “Azərbaycan” newspaper.”

It should be noted that French President Emmanuel Macron appointed Anne Boillon as Ambassador to Azerbaijan in November 2022. In a statement released a few days ago, the Embassy announced that her term of office would end in the near future. It was noted that the date of the Ambassador's departure from Azerbaijan has not yet been determined.

It should be recalled that the French Ambassador's uninvited visit to Karabakh in June this year caused discussions.
