Four individuals convicted under various articles of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code and serving sentences in our country - Khachaturyan Vagif Cherkezi, Sujyan Gevorg Rubenovich, Davtyan David Tigrani, and Eulcekcian Viken Abraham - have been handed over to Armenia.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on his Facebook page.
He stated that the individuals were handed over via the Hakari bridge.
It should be noted that this process is also one of the practical results of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
We recall that Eulcekcian Viken Abraham, detained in 2020, was identified as a mercenary who came to Karabakh from Lebanon to participate in hostilities. In 2021, by the verdict of Judge Elbay Allahverdiyev of the Baku Military Court, Eulcekcian Viken Abraham was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment.
Davtyan Davit Tigrani and Sujyan Gevorg Rubenovich were detained in 2020. They were charged under Article 276 (espionage) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code. In 2021, by the verdict of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, both individuals were sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment.
Vagif Khachaturyan was also accused of committing genocide in the village of Meshali, Khojaly district, as part of illegal Armenian armed formations. He was detained in Lachin in 2023 and, in the same year, was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment by the verdict of the Baku Military Court.
