We have preserved our language throughout all eras, and the Azerbaijani language we speak today does not differ from the Azerbaijani language spoken by our ancestors. This is a great achievement. I believe it is the greatness of our people that we have not fallen under the influence of other languages.
The editorial office reports that this was stated by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in an interview with local television channels on January 5.
“It is true that during the Soviet era, some words entered our lexicon. I am not referring to words from international vocabulary. But in principle, during the period of independence, we were able to cleanse ourselves of them,” the head of state added.
