The Australian government has issued a statement regarding the humanitarian catastrophe in Palestine.

The newsroom reports that Australia's Foreign Minister stated that the suffering and hunger faced by the civilian population living in the Gaza Strip have reached an unbearable level: “The suffering and hunger endured by civilians in Gaza must end immediately”.

The Minister added that the Australian government will allocate an additional 20 million dollars in humanitarian aid to Gaza. The main purpose of the aid is to combat hunger in the region, deliver medical supplies, and support safe humanitarian corridors.

Public support for this position has also been expressed. Today, tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Sydney to hold a march in support of Palestine. Participants of the action called for a ceasefire and demanded a stronger international response to what is happening in Gaza.

Australian officials called on the international community to be more active and take urgent measures to alleviate the situation in Gaza.
