Today marks 10 years since the April Victory of the Azerbaijani Army.
Starting from mid-March 2016, Armenians began to consistently violate the ceasefire.
From the night of April 1st to 2nd, positions of the Azerbaijani army and settlements along the entire front line came under intensive fire from the enemy.
The April battles were the most intense clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh since the ceasefire agreement was signed in 1994. The battles resulted in a victory for the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, with the liberation of heights around Talish village and Seysulan village in Tartar district, Leletepe height and Cocuq Marjanli in Jabrayil district, Gulustan village in Goranboy district, Gazakhlar village in Tartar district, and roads leading to Madagiz village in Tartar district from enemy occupation.
As a result of the bombing of Azerbaijani settlements near the line of contact, six civilians, including two children under 16, were killed, and 26 people were severely wounded.
During the battles, 30 Armenian tanks, up to 15 artillery pieces, and reinforced engineering structures were destroyed, 320 enemy servicemen were killed, and over 500 servicemen were wounded.
After four days of fighting, a new ceasefire agreement was signed on April 5th with the consent of both sides and under the observation of international organizations.
As a result of the battles, our Armed Forces liberated over 2000 hectares of territory from Armenian occupation, and more territory came under our operational control. Units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces carried out reinforcement work in the liberated lands.
