Apple to Launch Smart Glasses in 2027

Apple plans to launch its first smart glasses in 2027. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, there is also a possibility that the product will be unveiled closer to the end of the year. Gurman has consistently reported on the development of the company's smart glasses strategy and is now sharing more detailed information about what those glasses will look like.

Redaksiya reports that Gurman stated Apple is currently testing 4 designs and may ultimately launch some or all of them. These designs reportedly include a large rectangular frame, a thinner rectangular frame (similar to glasses worn by CEO Tim Cook), a larger oval or circular frame, and a smaller oval or circular frame. Apple is also considering various colors, including black, ocean blue, and light brown.

According to the information, these glasses could, in some respects, be seen as a step back from Apple's once ambitious plan to introduce various mixed and augmented reality devices. That plan has already faced difficulties due to product delays and the poor reception of Vision Pro. On the other hand, these glasses are described as being closer to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses: they will not have a display but will allow users to take photos and videos (Apple is reportedly using oval camera lenses). The glasses will also provide functions for answering phone calls, listening to music, and interacting with the long-awaited Siri update.
