The State Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control Agency has also begun investigating the situation regarding taxi services at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

Currently, the Agency is holding meetings with relevant bodies and economic entities.

The Agency states that, in connection with the issues discussed during the meetings, analyses of all legal and economic aspects of the situation that has arisen during the provision of taxi services are currently ongoing within the framework of competition legislation requirements.

The analyses conducted by the competition authority regarding this issue are aimed at evaluating the behavior of market entities from the perspective of competition legislation and preventing violations of consumer rights.

It should be recalled that a few days ago, new rules were adopted regarding the operation of taxis at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. As a result, the number of taxis permitted to operate at the airport was reduced, and some taxis were prohibited from picking up passengers from the airport. In parallel, taxi prices to/from the airport increased by 2.5-3 times – fares that were previously 8-10 manats are now 22-30 manats and even more.

Special order categories for the airport have been created in taxi operators' mobile applications. Prices for this category are higher than for other destinations. For example, transportation from the airport to the city starts from 5-6 manats. For distances of 3-25 kilometers, the payment per kilometer is 80-95 qəpik, and for distances of 26 kilometers and longer, it is 70 qəpik. Additionally, special tariffs are applied to taxi orders within the airport area, with those tariffs ranging between 20-30 manats. Such pricing has caused serious dissatisfaction among citizens.
