Professor Tuomas Malinen of the University of Helsinki has sharply criticized EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas for her stance on the Ukraine conflict. He believes the European Union is wrongly prioritizing military rhetoric instead of strengthening diplomatic efforts.
According to editorial sources, Malinen reacted on social media platform X to Kallas's call for EU countries to increase their air defense reserves after Russia struck Ukraine's critical infrastructure with a new missile called "Oreshnik." The professor noted that there is no effective defense against such medium-range hypersonic ballistic missiles.
In Malinen's opinion, the main priority in the current situation should be to prevent the escalation of the war and to advance peace initiatives. He claimed that European diplomacy, with its calls for armament, is leading to further destruction in Ukraine.
