On October 18, 2025, the official opening of the Alpaqut section took place in Kəngərli village of Aghdam district. This significant event coincided with Azerbaijan's Independence Day, giving the event a special symbolic meaning.
Redaksiya reports that this has gone down in history as the first sports section opened not only in Aghdam but also in the liberated territories in general. The opening ceremony was attended by Rafiq Gasimov, Vice-President of the Alpaqut Federation, Shahlar Valiyev, Head of the Baku City Representation, and Kanan Guliyev, Chairman of the Karabakh Regional Representation. During the event, they emphasized that a new page was being opened in the sports history of Azerbaijan.
The section will operate under the leadership of Gambar Agayev, a resident of Kəngərli village in Aghdam district and a four-time Alpaqut world champion. Gambar Agayev's international experience and successes will serve as both an example and a source of motivation for young athletes.
The opening ceremony continued with a seminar organized for Alpaqut athletes. Certificates were presented to all athletes who participated in the training. Children of martyrs also participated in the seminar and were met with special attention and respect.
Thus, a new sports page is being opened in the liberated territories. The establishment of the Alpaqut martial art in Kəngərli village has become a new beacon of hope for young people in the Karabakh region, embodying the unity of sports and national spirit.
