The US government has put forward a new financial demand regarding F-35 fighter jets, from which Turkey was removed due to its S-400 systems.

The editorial office reports that Washington has demanded 30 million dollars from Turkey for the storage and maintenance of six undelivered F-35 fighter jets. This information was disclosed by Gönül Tol, Director of the Turkey program at the “Middle East Institute,” one of the US think tanks.

It is noted that the aforementioned aircraft are stored in the US and are currently in use by the American Air Force. However, despite investing billions of dollars in the project, Turkey has still not been able to get back either the aircraft or the funds it paid.

The issue has further increased existing tensions in the defense sector between the two countries, and a statement regarding an official position is expected from Ankara.
