US President Donald Trump made a post on a social media platform regarding the issue. In his post, he wrote:
“All countries that cannot get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, such as the United Kingdom, which refused to interfere with Iran being left headless, I have a recommendation for you. First, buy from the US, we have plenty, and second, gather some courage, go to the Strait, and get it.”
The editorial board reports that the US president, in his post, advocated that countries “need to learn to wage war on their own,” adding:
“The US will no longer help you, just as you did not help us. Iran was almost completely destroyed. The hard part is over. Go, get your own oil!”
Trump also noted in another post:
“France did not allow military cargo planes heading to Israel to use its airspace. The Paris leadership was not very helpful regarding the 'Butcher of Iran,' who was successfully eliminated; the US will not forget this.”
Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28, at a time when negotiations between the Tehran and Washington administrations were ongoing. Iran responded with attacks on targets it had identified in Israel and some regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where US military bases are located. In the US-Israel attacks, numerous high-ranking officials, as well as the then-Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, were killed.
