The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the National Security Agency (NSA) have issued a joint warning about the increasing threats posed by China's state-sponsored hacker groups.
The editorial office reports that the advisory document published on August 27 noted that groups like Salt Typhoon are not merely stealing data by targeting global telecommunications networks and critical infrastructure systems, but are also gaining long-term access and preparing the ground for potentially destructive operations.
The warning states that China's state-sponsored hackers are exploiting vulnerabilities in routers used by telecommunications companies and other infrastructure operators, and are also establishing persistent presence in networks by modifying devices to avoid detection. It was emphasized that this activity primarily covers telecommunications, transport, hospitality, and military networks.
According to experts, Salt Typhoon and similar groups are expanding their global espionage capabilities by targeting not only large infrastructure companies but also networks associated with them. U.S. officials stated that these types of attacks pose serious risks to international security, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cybersecurity cooperation between states and companies.
