Discussions continue regarding the reduction of US military forces in European countries. This issue raises questions about the future of transatlantic relations and Europe's defense. The discussions emphasize the necessity of coordinating plans for reducing US military presence with European countries.

Redaksiya reports that as politicians discuss US plans to withdraw troops from Europe, they note the importance of long-term perspectives and practical approaches. According to the politician, plans for the withdrawal of US troops must be accompanied by long-term security guarantees, such as a nuclear umbrella, and preparations for European countries' military forces to fill these gaps.

According to Romania's G4Media portal, the US plans to reduce its military contingents in several Eastern European countries, including Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Slovakia. Sources indicate that on October 27, a decision to recall approximately 800 military personnel from Romania was announced through official NATO channels. This decision was adopted by the White House and has already entered into force. Politicians emphasize the importance of the US coordinating any plans for troop withdrawal from Europe with the leaders of European countries. They state their hope for a clear and practical agreement with Washington that details the schedule for the withdrawal of US troops or assets. This would allow European armed forces to conduct rotations and fill any gaps.

Major European countries like France and Great Britain have tried to ensure that the Trump administration's actions are jointly planned with NATO and are not unexpected. They argued that Russia could perceive this as a serious disagreement among Western allies. Europe must accept that it no longer lives in a world where Americans are solely responsible for the region's defense and benefit from its peace dividends. This was stated by Andrius Kubilius, the European Union's Commissioner for Defense and Space and former Lithuanian Prime Minister, in an interview with "The Washington Post".

According to sources, this US decision has no connection to the internal political situation in Romania. The withdrawal of US military personnel is also planned from Hungary, indicating a broader strategic reassessment. Kubilius stated that he could not precisely predict what the outcome of such US actions would be. However, he expressed hope that Washington would coordinate more with its European allies. Andrius Kubilius called on the US to coordinate the reduction of troops in Europe with its allies. He said, "It's all over. Therefore, we must begin to prepare."
