Air traffic in Greece was severely disrupted on Sunday morning due to a technical malfunction. As a result of the problem in the Athens Flight Information Region, all departures nationwide were temporarily suspended, and restrictions were imposed on landings at the capital's Athens and regional airports.
Citing sources, the editorial office reports that the malfunction is related to radio frequency systems in air traffic control centers. For safety reasons, aircraft already airborne were allowed to land normally, but new departures were halted.
According to the information, although the technical problem did not pose a direct risk to aviation safety, all flight operations were temporarily restricted as a precautionary measure. Passengers were informed about additional waiting times and delays at airports.
Official bodies have stated that work is underway to resolve the malfunction. Flights are expected to resume in stages once the problem is fully resolved.
