World-renowned artificial intelligence researcher Yann LeCun has sharply criticized the recent management changes at Meta. According to him, the inexperience of the person appointed as the company's new AI leadership has caused serious discontent within Meta.
The editorial reports that Meta has appointed Alexander Wang, the 29-year-old founder of Scale AI, as the head of its new artificial intelligence research division. The company paid $14 billion for this purpose, acquiring a part of Scale AI and bringing Wang into the team.
Yann LeCun stated that Alexander Wang does not sufficiently understand the working principles of a scientific research environment and the real needs of researchers. He also claimed that some test results for Meta's Llama 4 artificial intelligence model were falsified, which he said angered Meta's Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg.
According to LeCun, due to the crisis that has arisen, many employees have already left the company, and this process is expected to accelerate in the near future. He emphasized that large language models are not promising and announced that he will work on a new generation of artificial intelligence systems that learn by observing the physical world in the future.
