President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the 110/35/10 kV "Khankendi-1" electrical substation of "AzerEnergy" OJSC in Khankendi city on December 23.
The editorial office reports that Baba Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of "AzerEnergy" OJSC, informed the head of state about the work carried out.
It should be noted that in accordance with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev on the creation of a sustainable electricity supply infrastructure in the liberated territories, a 110/35/10 kilovolt closed-type substation, corresponding to a modern urban network model, has been built in Khankendi city. A 110 kV high-voltage transmission line, 1.8 kilometers of which is underground cable, totaling 11 kilometers, has been laid from Shusha city to Khankendi, passing through difficult mountainous and forested terrain, to connect Khankendi and its surrounding areas to the country's energy system. This substation is the first closed-type substation built in the liberated territories within the 110 kV voltage class. All equipment and installations, including transformers, are located inside the building.
It was stated that the most modern microprocessor-based Digital Control Center has been established at the substation. This Micro-SCADA system was created by "AzerEnergy" OJSC specialists and implemented for the first time precisely in Khankendi. The system ensures real-time monitoring, control, and event tracking of high-voltage power lines and equipment. Khankendi city, Aghdara, Khojaly, and Khojavand districts will receive reliable and stable electricity from this substation.
The head of state was also informed about the application of innovative technologies in the organization of the circular electricity supply system and its operation, created within a distance of up to 1000 kilometers in Karabakh and East Zangezur.
It was highlighted that "AzerEnergy" OJSC has laid 1000 kilometers of high-voltage transmission lines in Karabakh and East Zangezur in a record time of just 5 years, connecting them in a chain with 12 new substations, creating a two-stage circular electricity supply of 330 and 110 kV. For this purpose, the new Jabrayil Energy Hub was built, and the "Imishli", "Aghjabadi", and "Ganja" substations were completely reconstructed. This is the biggest innovation in the energy history of Karabakh and East Zangezur, as in case of an accident in any direction, automatic and stable energy supply will be provided from another direction without interruption.
It should be noted that the next innovative solution implemented by "AzerEnergy" OJSC for the organization of operation are the Substation and Overhead Line Monitoring and Analysis systems with Digital Technologies, which will cover the entire country starting from Karabakh and East Zangezur. For this purpose, the most modern digital devices and equipment have been purchased, and the participation of local young engineering staff in advanced training courses abroad has been ensured. The new system ensures the acquisition, processing, and transmission of images from power plants, substations, and lines to the server using high-precision cameras and thermal imagers installed on vehicles and special drones, as well as the determination of measurements, distances, and heating points using laser technologies, thereby detecting accident risks that are impossible to see with the naked eye.
President Ilham Aliyev was also informed about the "Transition to Green Energy" mega-projects by "AzerEnergy" OJSC. It was noted that work has been completed at the country's largest substation, the 500 kV "Navahi" substation, and the construction of 330 kV substations in Jabrayil and 220 kV substations in Sangachal has been completed for connecting the "Shafaq" Solar Power Plant to the energy system and electrifying the Sangachal terminal. The creation of Battery Energy Storage systems for the dynamic development of renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan is rapidly continuing. These energy facilities, which are the largest Battery Storage systems in the CIS region in terms of power and capacity, are being built on the territories of the "Absheron" and "Aghdash" substations. Wide Area Monitoring and Wide Area Control systems are being implemented to facilitate the integration of newly created 2 GW renewable energy sources into the grid and to strengthen the stability of the energy system in the country.
