As a result of WhatsApp's updated terms of use, OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft's Copilot services will be removed from the platform starting next year. Both companies explain the reason for this with new requirements set by Meta.

The editorial office reports that the updated rules prohibit the distribution of AI chatbots not created by Meta within the WhatsApp Business Solution framework. According to the rules, only automated systems intended for customer service will be allowed, while restrictions will be applied to cases where artificial intelligence is presented directly as a product.

According to the companies' statements, the services will remain available on WhatsApp until January 15, 2026. ChatGPT users are offered the opportunity to preserve their chat history by linking their accounts to the application, but no such function is provided for Copilot users. This change will lead to the withdrawal of other AI chatbots from WhatsApp in the near future, and it is expected that only the Meta AI service will remain on the platform starting next year.
