US President Donald Trump received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. During the meeting, the parties discussed the Russia-Ukraine war, cooperation in energy and defense sectors, as well as peace prospects.
The editorial office reports that during a press conference, Trump answered "Yes, we can" to a question about the possibility of convincing Putin to stop the war. He called Zelensky "a very strong leader," adding, "we understand each other well." Zelensky, in turn, stated that they are negotiating with major US energy and military companies, and issues of air defense systems and energy infrastructure are on the agenda.
Trump stated that "Putin wants the war to end, and Zelensky wants it too." He said that "Tomahawk" missiles and other weapons sent to Ukraine serve to shorten the war. Trump also highly praised the quality of Ukrainian drones but added, "nothing is like fighter jets."
In his speech, the US leader criticized NATO member Spain's loyalty to the alliance, saying, "Spain should be punished." He claimed that Pakistan attacked Afghanistan, stating, "this issue is easy for me to solve, I love solving wars." According to Trump, "Russian forces would have entered Kyiv very quickly if it weren't for the weather conditions and 'Javelin' missiles."
