US President Donald Trump called his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin a "pulse-check meeting," sharing "high stakes" on his "Truth Social" account.
The editorial office reports that Trump stated his top priority at the Alaska Summit is to discuss the possibilities of a ceasefire in Ukraine. He emphasized that reaching an agreement with Putin is not his responsibility, but he believes Russia will ensure peace. According to US officials, if Trump senses that Putin is not willing to agree, he may withdraw from the meeting.
Trump added that the issue of land exchange will be on the agenda, but the decision rests solely with Ukraine: “I am not here to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine, but to bring them to the negotiating table.” The President warned that if Russia does not reach an agreement, it will face severe economic consequences.
