Operational-preventive measures continue to be carried out by the Main Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure the security of citizens on social networks and other online platforms.
According to news from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the next operation, 22-year-old Rashad Mammadov was detained for launching cyber attacks on the pages of women using "Tik-Tok", "Instagram" and similar social networks, and seizing their personal information.
Investigations revealed that R. Mammadov added unethical sound effects and information to videos and photos belonging to the victims using special programs and shared them on his own social media pages. Contacting the individuals whose images were shared, R. Mammadov stated that he had created fake pages in their names and, by threatening them, demanded various sums of money in exchange for deleting the compromising profiles.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Main Department under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code regarding these facts. R. Mammadov has been brought in for investigation as an accused person, and a pre-trial detention measure has been chosen for him for the duration of the investigation.
Measures are ongoing to identify other individuals who have been victimized as a result of his illegal actions.
