Syrian President Ahmed al-Shar'a stated that there is no full trust in relations with the SDF, noting that the organization has not fought the Assad regime for fourteen years and has maintained balanced relations with it. According to the president, the SDF has neither participated in the revolution nor supported its progress afterward.
The editorial reports that Shar'a emphasized that political steps are shared with the international community, but the SDF has chosen to remain outside the main processes. He stated that trust is formed over time and raised the question of how much more patience the government should show after waiting for nine months.
The president noted that the door to dialogue remains open despite past attacks that resulted in civilian deaths. According to him, the goal is to save Syria without excluding anyone, build the state in accordance with international norms, and respect the agreement reached on March 10.
Ahmed Shar'a stated that the main choice facing Syria is to build a unified state based on law or to remain fragmented by sects, ethnic groups, and factions. He emphasized that it is impossible to build a strong state in any country as long as uncontrolled armed forces exist.
The president also said that it is unacceptable for women and children to be brought to hospitals daily as a result of shelling. He recalled that armed groups that obstruct the activities of law enforcement agencies are not accepted in any city, stating that this situation should not continue in Syria either.
