Statements have been made over the last three years that artificial intelligence (AI) will free us from routine tasks and allow us to work less. However, a new study by Harvard Business Review shows the opposite. Those who use AI the most are experiencing burnout.
The editorial reports that the time saved is not spent on rest, but rather on more work. Now that tasks are completed faster, we start adding more to them. As a result, endless "to-do" lists and even interruptions to lunch breaks with work-related concerns arise. Although expectations have increased, actual productivity only rises by 10%. Artificial intelligence is an excellent tool, but without limitations, it only leads to faster fatigue.
This research shows that the impact of technological development on human well-being is complex, and simply using more tools can lead to an increase in workload. To fully benefit from AI, limitations must be placed on its application, and strategies must be developed to maintain work-life balance.
