Shocking statistics: 30 percent of young people suffer from forgetfulness

"Up to 30 percent of people aged 25-35 regularly face forgetfulness and weakened attention."

Oxu.Az reports, citing Lenta.ru, that Polina Vakhromeyeva, a neurologist and psychiatrist at Yusupov Hospital in Russia, stated this.

According to the doctor, the main cause of memory problems in young people is impaired attention. This condition develops unnoticed but gradually intensifies under the influence of daily factors. Living in a multi-tasking mode in modern life, lack of sleep, and insufficient rest lead to a constant overload of the nervous system. As a result, an information-overloaded brain loses its ability to assimilate new information, and people feel that they forget things more often and mix up details.

In addition, memory problems can also arise as a result of chronic nervous tension and emotional fatigue. At this time, cortisol levels increase. This hormone negatively affects the hippocampus, the area responsible for memory.

The doctor noted that other factors contributing to weakened memory include: smoking, regular consumption of alcoholic beverages, and improper nutrition.

She also emphasized that deficiencies in B-group vitamins, vitamin D, iron, iodine, zinc, and other trace elements can impair brain function. For example, vitamin B12 deficiency is directly linked to memory impairments.
